Maskit Golan Shochat
Since 1998 Maskit has served as the Head of the Educational Center at Schneider Children’s Medical Center, (SCMCI) in Israel.
SCMCI is the largest tertiary Children’s hospital in the Middle East. Maskit is in charge of a multi-disciplinary team of 60 special-education teachers and therapists from both the Jewish and Arabic communities and nearly 30 additional specialized professionals.
As Head of the Center, she is responsible for daily interactions with a wide variety of tasks, including: hospital management, pre-surgery preparation, special projects, large volunteer groups, hospital clowns, supervision of staff teams, leading the Israeli Child life program, and involvement in many additional programs. The Educational Center works in ten different wards and treats over 240 children of various ages and cultural backgrounds every day.
In the last 6 years since Maskit completed her Somatic Experiencing Professional (SEP) training, she has been involved with ITI in various projects within the health sector. This includes working with educational and medical teams in hospitals, training them in EmotionAid®, emotional first aid tools that serve to both promote the team’s professional know-how as well as their personal well-being.
Maskit has a Master of Science from Northeastern University, Boston, U.S.A., where she majored in Applied Educational Psychology.
